The cPanel alternative that
costs $10 a server.
Vanta Panel is a self-hosted hosting control panel that replaces cPanel & WHM on your own VPS. It costs $10 per server per month for unlimited accounts, mailboxes and databases, and ships a mail server, authoritative DNS and free SSL.

Ten rows that decide the purchase. Where a competitor is better, the table says so — two of these panels cost nothing and one of them is a legitimate choice over us.

How these numbers were reached. cPanel at 200 accounts is the Premier tier at $69.99/mo plus $0.49 for each of the 100 accounts above 100, i.e. $118.99/mo or $1,427.88 a year (cPanel list price, checked 26 Jul 2026). Vanta Panel is $10/mo per server at any account count, so $120 a year. RunCloud’s $96 is the Basic plan at $8/mo for one server; RunCloud does not meter accounts, so that figure is per server, not per customer. CloudPanel and HestiaCP charge no licence fee at any size. Every product on this row still needs a VPS you pay for separately.
cPanel®, WHM®, WHMCS®, CloudPanel, RunCloud and HestiaCP are trademarks of their respective owners. Vanta Panel is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. If you believe a cell in this table is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
Four panels, and when to pick them over us
A comparison that never concedes anything is a comparison nobody believes. Here is the case for each of the others, written as fairly as we can put it.
The thing you are replacing.
cPanel is the most complete panel on this list and the one every hosting support team already knows. It is also the only one that charges by how many customers you have: $1,427.88 a year at 200 accounts against $120 for Vanta Panel. If your account count is going up and your prices are not, that gap is the entire reason this page exists.
Pick cPanel if you need the exact cPanel UI for support staff or customers who demand it by name.
Fast, free, and not a hosting panel.
CloudPanel is genuinely excellent at what it is: a free, lightweight Nginx + PHP-FPM panel for running your own sites on a VPS. It ships no mail server and no DNS server at all, and there is no customer-facing panel, so it cannot be used to sell shared hosting without bolting on two other products and a billing system.
Pick CloudPanel if you host your own applications and buy email and DNS elsewhere.
A deploy tool with a SaaS control plane.
RunCloud manages unlimited applications per server and is pleasant to deploy with. Two structural differences matter here: it has no mail server and no authoritative DNS, and the dashboard is RunCloud’s, not yours — an agent runs on your machine but the control plane is a subscription service you do not host.
Pick RunCloud if you are a developer or agency deploying apps, not a host selling accounts.
The strongest free option, and we will say so.
HestiaCP is free, GPLv3 open source, self-hosted, and unlike the newer flat-price panels it really does ship a mail server and authoritative DNS, so you can actually sell shared hosting on it. On price it beats us: $0 against $120 a year. Vanta Panel differs on the parts a commercial host feels later — a first-party WHMCS module rather than a third-party one, Node, Python, Java, Kafka and Redis managed in-panel, a built-in cPanel importer, signed updates and paid support.
Pick HestiaCP if licence cost must be zero or an OSI licence is a hard requirement.
A panel without mail and DNS is not a hosting panel
Price is why people leave cPanel. Completeness is why most of the cheap replacements do not stick. A shared hosting customer expects three things a deploy tool does not have.
Mailboxes on their own domain
Vanta Panel runs Postfix and Dovecot on your server with webmail, forwarders, autoresponders and spam filtering. CloudPanel and RunCloud ship no mail server, so every customer mailbox becomes a bill from someone else.
Nameservers with your brand on them
PowerDNS runs as an authoritative nameserver, so ns1 and ns2 are on your domain and your customers point registrars at you. CloudPanel has no DNS server; RunCloud edits records at somebody else’s.
Somewhere for the customer to log in
Every account gets its own Linux user and its own vPanel login, and the free WHMCS module creates, suspends and terminates them from your billing. That is the difference between a server tool and a hosting business.
HestiaCP is the exception among the free panels: it has all three. That is why it is the one we compare ourselves against on features rather than on price.
What the same server costs on cPanel
cPanel prices the licence by how many accounts you run. Vanta Panel prices it by how many servers you run — so the second column stops moving.
| Accounts | cPanel / yr | Vanta Panel / yr | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $359.88 | $0 (free) | $359.88 |
| 30 | $647.88 | $120 | $527.88 |
| 100 | $839.88 | $120 | $719.88 |
| 200 | $1,427.88 | $120 | $1,307.88 |
| 500 | $3,191.88 | $120 | $3,071.88 |
| 1,000 | $6,131.88 | $120 | $6,011.88 |
cPanel list price, checked 26 Jul 2026: Solo $29.99/mo (1 account), Admin $35.99 (5), Pro $53.99 (30), Premier $69.99 (100), plus $0.49 per additional account above 100. Vanta Panel is $10/mo per server at every row; the first row is $0 because a single account fits inside the free tier.
Import your cPanel accounts, one at a time
vWHM reads a standard cPanel backup and recreates the account on your Vanta Panel server: the Linux user and home directory, the domains and subdomains, the MySQL databases and users, and the mailboxes. You verify each account before cutting DNS over, so there is no flag day and no window where both panels have to agree.
What comes across
- Linux user and home directory
- Domains, subdomains and addon domains
- MySQL databases and database users
- Mailboxes and forwarders
- DNS zone records
- Cron jobs
SSL certificates are reissued from Let’s Encrypt on the new server rather than copied, so HTTPS is live before you move DNS.

Leave the per-account bill behind.
One command on a fresh Ubuntu or Debian VPS installs vWHM and vPanel with mail, DNS, SSL and databases. Start free on one account, then $10 a server for unlimited accounts — never per account.
